: Hi Nancy and All,
: Read your comments with interests.
: Over here at my training center in Penang, Malaysia, in every sessions my students after their practice of Level I, they continue with selected Level II training which includes Spring Leg -Flex foot.
: With regular practice, my students were able to stand on one leg without falling. But with eyes closed, most fall like Humpty Dumpties!!
: Nevertheless, the benefits are there... the training nourishes qi in the liver and kidneys.

: : : : I've been doing Body - Mind Method (Level II) for about a year and am still struggling with my balance on Spring leg - flex foot. I'm fine with my eyes open but when I close my eyes I usually lose my balance. It helps if I keep my chin tucked in, hips relaxed and visualize looking in the distance, like at a setting sun. Anyone have any sugestions that would help with balance? Any other exercises that would be good to do?

: : : I have never been able to balance on one foot to do anything. I have to hold onto something to do this or fall over. Very aggrevating-which is why I rarely do Mind-Body. Most of the movements are not a problem but this one is a major problem. Here is to hoping that somebody can help us!

: : Dear Larry and all, I can't help you about the balance thing so I wasn't going to answer until you said you rarely do the Mind-body because of this! I've been told that you can do it by letting the foot touch as necessary to keep your balance. Holding on to things is said to dissipate the chi, but I'll admit I sometimes let my elbows touch the wall behind me just so I can do that section off the ground where it's supposed to be.When I was in China, on uneven ground, I always stood next to a tree and let my elbow balance me. Looked good, and it worked for me. I have foot and knee problems that no matter what I do, preclude balancing on one foot for more than a few seconds. But I do the body-mind method every day, and I encourage people who like it to do it as often as possible, and don't let these little "challenges" prevent you from benefitting from the Level II method. It has so many benefits. Much love, and chi, NancyCA

Greetings:

I too find the spring leg- flex foot sequence to be a constant challenge during my level II practice. I am only able to go through the entire sequence with my eyes closed when my mind is not wondering. As soon as the first thought pops into my head I begin to wobble off balance. It is very helpful for me to practice letting go of my thoughts during sitting meditation so that I can aproach level II and all of the other ChiLel methods with a clear state of mind.

Lots of Loving Chi,
James
