: : I've been doing Body - Mind Method (Level II) for about a year and am still struggling with my balance on Spring leg - flex foot. I'm fine with my eyes open but when I close my eyes I usually lose my balance. It helps if I keep my chin tucked in, hips relaxed and visualize looking in the distance, like at a setting sun. Anyone have any sugestions that would help with balance? Any other exercises that would be good to do?

In Beijing a few years back I used to practice every morning with a woman who'd had at least 5 or 6 diseases in her internal organs before learning Pang Heming's qigong. She (and I now) did both Levels I and II, and even SHE (who'd been part of team teachers travelling in China) opened her eyes when doing spring/flex, looking ahead a few feet. When we came indoors in the winter I'd notice that once in a while she'd wobble. So I never worried about keeping eyes open, and when nowadays I practice in the dark, I just sometimes stand near a place I can balance if necessary with a finger. Outdoors in the light, with mind sensing all 4 horizontal directions--especially back and sides, it seems usually no problem to balance IF I'm calm and not thinking ahead to what the day will bring. I have to say that in all the years I've been practicing both these forms, never had I known quite what to do with my mind until Luke's stuff came along. I LOVE hearing his tapes and practicing finally with mind almost always on sky and so forth. I had a language problem in China, to say the least, and even though my teacher's son told me where to put my mind at the beginning, I never could figure out where to keep it throughout till reading and hearing Luke.I still have questions, but. . . another time. : I have never been able to balance on one foot to do anything. I have to hold onto something to do this or fall over. Very aggrevating-which is why I rarely do Mind-Body. Most of the movements are not a problem but this one is a major problem. Here is to hoping that somebody can help us!
