: I've read about chi machines in the China Healthways Newsletter (from the CH Institute in San Clemente CA); it's called QGM. Ken Cohen, in his Way of Qigong recommends NOT using them. Carolyn in MD

: : : : Dear friends,
: : : : I am new to the Chi community, but have been following the healing stories, and newsletters for about six months. I am very interested in acquiring the Chi machine, but would need to purchase it from someone used. Is there anyone who has a used machine they are interested in selling inexpensively? I would use it extensively in my massage practice, and as a herbalist.
: : : : Sincerely, Meg

: : : I guess I have missed the discussion on Chi Machines. Why would someone pay for a machine to do something you can do yourself for nothing? I still don't understand that concept. We can gather Chi without any machine. That is what Chi Lel is all about. Leaning to gather Chi and to focus the universal Chi to heal. How does a machine help in that process? I can see where a machine could do the exercises, but as Frank says there is a world of difference between exercise and Qigong. If I believed a machine could do the work of gathering Chi I can't think of any reason for me to go to retreats or practice Chi Lel. If anyone has an answer to this I would be glad to listen.
: : : May loving Chi surround you,

: : Dear Meg, What Victoria says is true. I'll admit I've never heard of a chi machine. But I do know that the human body and mind is the most efficient chi "machine" that exists. If you've read any of the stories on this forum, you will be aware of the power of chi and how we can use it to maintain and improve our health as well as cure illnessses. If you do not have 101 Miracles of Natural Healing ( the book by Luke Chan) I would encourage you to obtain it (via this website) and read it. It will answer some of your questions, I believe. (and it costs very little!) Much love and chi, NancyCA

Hello to all,
My friend, who is a massage therapist, has a chi machine, and has used it with me when I have had a massage. It is merely a small hand held device that looks a bit like a percussion massager. It can be placed on usually the lower dantien, and emits a gentle pulsing vibration at a sequence that can be varied to faster or slower. It feels to me like an overactive cat purring while it sits on your stomach. I find it a bit disconcerting for some reason, and feel that it throws my 'chi harmony' out of balance, rather than improving it. Maybe because I have been practicing for four years and really just love the balance and harmony that comes from the practice. Actually, I get better sensations from just doing la chi for a few minutes.
Here's to balanced chi!
Gay
