I've asked my instructor this question, and her response was that if you practice qi-gong, your body will begin to move toward the weight that it should be at. Of course, part of this also means that you need to eat correctly. If you are eating 15 big macs a week, your body's chi needs to work harder at combating all that goes with eating that.
Like an athlete, look at what you are fueling your body with, eat a balanced meal, and the chi will help with the weight loss.
