Body -mind and flex footPosted by NancyCA on October 03, 19100 at 00:45:52: In Reply to: ME TOO!!! posted by Larry of Suburbia on October 02, 19100 at 07:35:30: : : I've been doing Body - Mind Method (Level II) for about a year and am still struggling with my balance on Spring leg - flex foot. I'm fine with my eyes open but when I close my eyes I usually lose my balance. It helps if I keep my chin tucked in, hips relaxed and visualize looking in the distance, like at a setting sun. Anyone have any sugestions that would help with balance? Any other exercises that would be good to do? : : Jim : Dear Larry and all, I can't help you about the balance thing so I wasn't going to answer until you said you rarely do the Mind-body because of this! I've been told that you can do it by letting the foot touch as necessary to keep your balance. Holding on to things is said to dissipate the chi, but I'll admit I sometimes let my elbows touch the wall behind me just so I can do that section off the ground where it's supposed to be.When I was in China, on uneven ground, I always stood next to a tree and let my elbow balance me. Looked good, and it worked for me. I have foot and knee problems that no matter what I do, preclude balancing on one foot for more than a few seconds. But I do the body-mind method every day, and I encourage people who like it to do it as often as possible, and don't let these little "challenges" prevent you from benefitting from the Level II method. It has so many benefits. Much love, and chi, NancyCA
