Thanks Christy, I'll try your suggestions. Senior instructor Debra Weisenburger Lipetz had two suggestions. One was to "sink into the earth" similar to what you suggest. The other is to practice in the dark with eyes open.

Take care,
Jim

: Hi Jim,
: I have had that experience as well and I find when I close my eyes and make sure that the supporting leg is bent at the knee and that I visualize my leg and chi rooted deeply into the earth I stabalize myself for the sequence. I have also found that in doing this practice in different parts of the world my balance is better in some places more than others. Curious?
: Hope this helps.

: : I've been doing Body - Mind Method (Level II) for about a year and am still struggling with my balance on Spring leg - flex foot. I'm fine with my eyes open but when I close my eyes I usually lose my balance. It helps if I keep my chin tucked in, hips relaxed and visualize looking in the distance, like at a setting sun. Anyone have any sugestions that would help with balance? Any other exercises that would be good to do?

: : Jim
