Hi .
Are you doing chi lel for the sharp pains in your knees or for another reason? Wall squats may not be the best form for you, it depends on what your physical problem is. Except for muscle soreness, I think that there should not be be any intense pain with wall squats unless you are doing too much or doing them incorrectly. I do 100 a day ,and at first I did them completely wrong and my knees were killing me. That was because I let my knees go past my toes when I went down. When I stopped doing this, that problem went away.
If you are doing squats to heal your knees, then I suggest you only go halfway down or hold onto the door jamb to take a little bit of the weight off until you can ease into doing them correctly.
One of the instructors, Lisa, was really helped with her bad knees that needed surgery by doing wall squats, then she did not need surgery.
Moderation and listening to your own body is essential, but difficult since we were trained out of listening to your bodies and just taught to run to a doctor at the first problem. Doing wall squats was essential to my healing since I have had kidney disease, so I pushed pretty hard once I got started. Only you know what you need,
but I would keep on trying if I were you. Just take it easy.
Good luck, Deborah Lissom
: Hi,
: I have a question. Sometimes I get sharp pains in my knees so bad I have to limp. I haven't had it for quite a while, but since I've been doing wall squats, it's come back. Mostly on the inside of my right knee. I don't know whether I should keep doing the wall squats and trust that the chi will heal my knees in the process, or stop because when I stop for a few days the pain goes away. I don't want to disable myself. I wonder if everything else I do with chilel is enough to attain good health, without doing the wall squats. What do you all think? Thank you so much for all the help and support I've received in the past. Mimi
